Daniel 5:22-23

Daniel 5:22-23 “But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. 23 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

What do we mean with the word “Worship” or better yet what do we worship? King Belshazzar was using the things of the Temple of God to throw a party. The king tried to put himself on equal status as God. Daniel’s message was that sadly the very One that gave the king life was not the object of the king’s worship. Today we are inundated with all kinds of things to worship and treasure. We worship money, prestige, objects, others, feelings, and many other things we always say are good like health, family, success, etc. We have walked away from the true meaning of this word “Worship” for in the true sense of the word there is only ONE who should be the source of our worship and that is God. God holds our very lives, our surroundings, our possessions, and even the very next breath we breathe. Our fragile world is held together by the grace and mercy of God. So our true worship is not this world or anything in this world for we are all going to leave this life for an eternity either with God or separated from God. God prepared a way for any person to spend that eternity with Him and that is through the Cross of Calvary. Thank You Lord Pastor Tom
