1 Thessalonians 5:8-10
1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
What a promise these verses give to us today. As children of Jesus Christ, we need to arm ourselves daily with the best possible armor and that is the breastplate of faith. Yes the breastplate protects our vital organs but God also wants us in faith to come to the realization that He is there to protect us. Our faith is based upon the truth and promise of God to always be there to take care of us. Yet some may say but what if that means that God wants us to walk through some tough times, well yes that is part of living on this earth because the world hated Jesus the world will hate us. What if my faith leads to my death while living for Jesus? God’s answer is found in verse 10, that no matter what happens in life or death we are promised eternal life with Jesus Christ. Our Savior has sealed our eternal soul to Himself, so no matter what happens here on earth or in our death we can confidently walk in the truth of salvation. Pastor Tom
